I would like to share pictures of my recent trip to konkan.
http://www.hrishilele.com/ganesh/
The place is village Mithbav, Tal: Devgad, Dist: Sindhudurg. Its 40 kms from Kankavali station on Konkan Railway.
I am planning to arrange a small trip to konkan in next 6 months. Idea is to go into remote places in Konkan like this and enjoy the nature. The accomodation will be arranged in the houses of local people. This could be more exciting !
Please give your thoughts.

I am from Kudal, which would be about 20 kms from Kankavli. I have experienced the beauty of this region a few times and it has been an exhillarating experience to say the least. I am sure it will be a great experience to stay in houses of the native people. I am sure you would totally enjoy the experience. Checked the photos on your website. Somehow it seems that I have met you before. Not sure. My wife says you look like me. So maybe....
Do let me know about your experiences in the Konkan region.
Cheers!! Yogesh

Thanks shrihari for your reply.
In my recent visit to Konkan I found there are lot of activities going on for tourism. I saw couple of resorts coming up. But there is still lack of good planning and structuring of this development. Normally such a type of ad hoc development will lead to total mess in that pretty region.
Currently I am trying to study various tourists areas e.g. Thailand, Malaysia and how they have developed their area systematically.
waiting for pics of your place !

Though I have a house there, still, no one stays there now. But if we can spend a day getting it in order...do let me know. It would be fun.
Cheers~

i have travelled in Himanchal n uttranchal...in those states, this kind of arrangement is catching up fast...though it is more of word-of-mouth publicity...as of now...
the facilities being offered are pretty gud...a neat bedroom , with clean n spotless sheets that are changed everyday...a clean toilet with running water facilities with a geyser...food is normally cooked by the lady of the house...no servants except for washing the dishes...no laundry...however , you are allowed to use the washing machne of the landlord....tv and other facilities like phone n internet , again are available but inside the house of the landlord....
now this works pretty good, if u are not looking for a star kind acco...and its wonderful if u are looking for a lazy break with lots of local culture and cuisine thrown in...
if something on those lines are available in konkan ...i wud give my left arm to avail such facility....
do let me know....i wud be grateful....
luking forward to spending atleast 4-5 days...lazing in a nice cool ancestral tiled konkan house...relishing the spicy konkan cuisine....
somebody invite me pleeeeeeeeeaseeeeeeeeeeee.... !!!!!
Cheers !!!!Private Reply to Nattu | Sep 23, 2005 5:22 am | | re: re: re: Trip to Konkan | # | saitya | | Hi Hrishi,

I'm Dhaval, basically and essentially from Pune but working in Mumbai in an advertising agency.
I'm very much interested and raring to roam not only Maharashtra but whole of India. Obviously can't afford the luxury of luxury hotels and airline travel but otherwise anything and everything is fine with me.
Do let me know if you have any plans for the Konkan trip. I'd love to come. If not Konkan, any other place in India. What I have in mind is a nice Wildlife Safari at a National Park, either Bharatpur or Kanha or Corbett. What do you say? Neone interested?
I'm game! Let's go.

That's a wonderful idea. A trip to Kokan and staying in villages at native's house. What better way than this to experience the true flavours of Kokan.
Let me know if you plan such a trip over the weekend in the next 6 or even 3 months. I'm game.
